Founded in 1997, Morton Manley custom earrings culminated a boyhood dream of pulling jewelry/art back to 2,000 B.C. All things new and shiny were not enough. Behind lay a thick and rich history of a more personal choice of adornment not limited to small holes or body placement. As a Gemini, a fondness for working in pairs has fueled my fascination with earrings. Being an amateur anthropologist and a professional jeweler, when friends started asking for earrings in over sizes and showing interested in organic material, the wheel started turning backwards. The door was opened and the porch light lit. “One step ahead, two ears apart” became a mantra. Forty years of art, craft, jewelry, sculpture, anthropology, native feelings, tribal family, carving ivory, and working metal blended to become the Morton Manley Collection offered here for your wearing pleasure.
